WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY
Introduction
The Department of Psychiatry is dedicated in providing a high quality education in mental health in both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It comprises of a team of psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.
Our undergraduate students will be given exposure to mental health topics for 8 weeks of their clinical clerkship in the fourth year based in UiTM Selayang and Selayang Hospital. They will have the opportunity to see variety of Psychiatry cases both in the ward and clinic settings. During the posting, students will also experienced home visits with the Community Psychiatry team from Selayang Hospital. They are also scheduled for visits to Psychiatry Rehabilitation Unit (MENTARI) Selayang Hospital, Psychiatry Dare Care Centre in University Malaya Medical Centre and Hosbital Bahagia Ulu Kinta (HBUK).

- Communication skills course and personal and professional development modules
- Psychological component of undergraduate and postgraduate Dentistry program
The UiTM Postgraduate Psychiatry Program is a professional Master program which follows the standard curriculum that governed by the National Conjoint Board (Psychiatry) which comprises of Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Ministry of Health, Academy of Medicine and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) itself. Candidates who successfully complete the course will be awarded the degree, Master of Medicine (Psychiatry).
The UiTM MMed (Psychiatry) program is a 4-year professional Master program which follows the standard curriculum governed by the National Conjoint Board (Psychiatry) which comprises of Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Univeristi Islam Antarabangsa (UIA), Ministry of Health, Academy of Medicine and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) itself. Candidates who successfully complete the course will be awarded the degree, Master of Medicine (Psychiatry).
Apart from academic duties, our lecturers are also offering clinical services at Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Selayang Hospital. The members of the department are also actively involved in researches, innovations and community events related to mental health issues within and outside of the faculty.
