Introduction

Our Orthopaedic Department currently has 12 surgeons. Students start their ortho posting in year FIVE held at Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah, Puncak Alam. We are working together with the specialists under Ministry of Health in providing clinical services to the public. We are progressing to create a unit that will eventually become one of the tertiary referral centre and Orthopaedic training centre for the nation, which will soon centred at Hospital UiTM Puncak Alam.
 
Our first medical students intake was in June 2003. The number of students intake has grown over the years and currently we have over 200 students intake per year. Students start their Orthopaedic surgery posting in year four for a period of 8 weeks. The posting is divided equally between the two teaching hospitals at Selayang and Sungai Buloh Hospital.
 
UiTM Orthopaedics offers comprehensive Orthopaedic services to patients referred from government and private healthcare providers, focusing on those living within the northern district of Klang Valley. The team of Orthopaedic surgeons lead by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Fairudz Mohd Miswan provide Inpatient and outpatient specialist care at Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah. Our surgeons are also involved in private healthcare services through the UiTM Private Specialist Centre. The team is rapidly progressing forward and expanding it’s subspecialty services such as arthroscopic and sports surgery, arthroplasty, hand and microsurgery, advance musculoskeletal trauma surgery, paediatric, foot and ankle, as well as other orthopaedic subspecialities in the near future.
