Summary of EK :
The Entiti Kecemerlangan - Synthetic Biology, Engineering and Regeneration (SYBER) aims to be the platform for converging specialised research in the areas of synthetic biology such as cloning, gene editing and molecular virology with tissue engineering such as biomaterials scaffolding and chondrocyte regeneration for translational research. The current focus areas of this EK are molecular virology, cellular mechanism of Osteosarcoma (OS) metastasis and immunotherapy, and stem cells reprogramming. Synthetic biology advances are applied in the development of 3D cultures for cultivation of the newly synthesised foodborne virus, human norovirus (HuNoV) while ‘omics’ approaches are applied towards understanding the metastatic cellular mechanism of the adhesion molecules in OS. Members of SYBER are also covering research on gastrointestinal barrier towards effects of high fat diet, cancer therapy research as well as research on antimicrobial activities and anticoagulant effects.
