Undergraduate Programme : MBBS 240
The MBBS 240 program is a five-year programme, comprising of two years in the preclinical phase and three years in the clinical phase. The preclinical phase is conducted in a hybrid problem-based method where the students are taught in an integrated system-based approach. The clinical years utilise a combination of discipline and inter-disciplinary structures. Throughout the programme the student is exposed to ethics and professionalism in line with the faculty’s philosophy of inculcating solid scientific foundation imbued with strong humanistic values.
The first three years of training is at the Sungai Buloh Campus while the remaining two years are at Selayang and Teluk Intan campuses. The main hospitals used for clinical training are the Ministry of Health hospitals of Selayang, Sungai Buloh and Teluk Intan. In addition, our own healthcare training centres known collectively as Pusat Pakar Perubatan UiTM (PPUiTM) at both Sungai Buloh and Selayang campuses are also used to complement the teaching and learning activities.
In Years 1 and 2, the session starts with General module, which runs over 12 weeks, followed by the systems module; musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, haemopoeitic & lymphoid, nervous system, gastrointestinal, endocrine and metabolism, reproductive and communicable disease. Each of the system modules runs between 2 – 8 weeks.
Personal and Professional Development strand is taught throughout Years 1 to 5. Early Clinical Exposure is taught throughout Years 1 and 2. Population Health and Preventive Medicine is progressively introduced in Years 1 to 4.
In Year 3, students will undergo Consolidation of Basic Clinical Methods for 2 weeks, Population Health and Preventive Medicine for 4 weeks, and rotational postings of Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine for 8 weeks each.
Year 4 curriculum provides opportunity for students to be exposed to different clinical specialities. Each posting is for 8 weeks duration. Year 5 curriculum concentrates on the consolidation of clinical medicine. Each posting is for 7 weeks duration. Candidates also have the opportunity to undergo Shadow Housemanship of four weeks duration before the Clinical Professional Exam.
Elective module runs over four weeks at the end of Year 2 and five weeks at the end of the Year 3.
Student residences are available in Sungai Buloh, Selayang and Teluk Intan campuses. To help the medical students cope with the rigour of the medical training, they are all required to stay in these residences.
The main academic building at Sungai Buloh campus is equipped with all the facilities required for optimal teaching and learning activities. They include lecture halls, seminar rooms, tutorial rooms, laboratories, clinical skill laboratory, medical museum and library. The faculty is also well equipped with the state-of the art research laboratories to support research activities.
There are ample recreational spaces available for extracurricular activities including prayer rooms and student lounges.
Essential support services such as counselling, health and dental services are also provided on-site.
All the campuses are accessible via the public transport and the main Sungai Buloh campus is also serviced by a feeder bus connecting it to the Sungai Buloh MRT station.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT :
